disco girl is now an extinct phenomenon. but once it marked a template-cloned chick wearing black skirt, white ruffle blouse and black velvet shoes with little ties, bought from a foreign currency shop. as she wanted to be "cool", it was necessary to merge into the popular crowd and make vigorous moves to so called carpet-whipping-music. there were also others - punks and metalheads, also defined by music preference but they kept a strict distance. if you wanted to be someone, there weren't any other choices.
today, the world is wider and more fragmented, with more choices for self-definition and groups to belong to. it is also OK not to belong to any group or having several "faces" is quite common, too. one can have one identity at school / work, another at home, the third at some occasion party and virtually even several more. with the help of technological gadgets a human has become omnipresent - one can be present in several places at the same time and in several identities. old disco girl may dance in ecstasy at retro festivals, but you no longer recognise her. she has also become multi-present. but is her true nature still there under the clothes?
